Behind The Scenes

Welcome to Exquick.com — a heartfelt space where home-cooked food, family life, and everyday joy come together.

I’m so glad you’re here.

My name is Sophie Lane, and I’m a wife, a mom of two lively little ones, and the voice behind this collection of recipes. I don’t have a culinary degree or a background in food media. What I do have is a love for cooking that started in a tiny kitchen, with simple ingredients and a lot of heart — and that’s the spirit I bring to every recipe I share here.

How It All Began

Exquick.com was born from ordinary moments — the kind we often overlook but end up cherishing the most. Like stirring a pot of soup on a rainy day while my kids play underfoot, or baking muffins together on a slow Sunday morning. Over the years, my kitchen has become the heart of our home — a place of comfort, connection, and creativity.

Friends and family often asked me for recipes I’d casually make on weeknights or special celebrations. So one day, I decided to start documenting them — not with perfection in mind, but with sincerity. Exquick.com is my digital recipe book, filled with dishes we love, meals my kids devour, and flavors inspired by our travels and life experiences.

What You’ll Find Here

This website is a mix of family-friendly recipes, simple everyday meals, fun holiday treats, and the occasional globally inspired dish from our travels. I focus on:

  • Easy, approachable recipes anyone can make
  • Real ingredients you already have at home
  • Meals that bring people together, not stress them out
  • A few sweet indulgences — because life needs dessert

You won’t find complicated techniques or intimidating chef-talk here. Just food that makes sense for busy families, joyful kitchens, and meaningful mealtimes.

Life Beyond the Kitchen

When we’re not at home, we love to explore. My husband and I travel with our children whenever we can — not for luxury, but for the experience. New places, different cultures, and local flavors inspire us. Sometimes, the recipes you see here are born from a dish we tasted halfway around the world, recreated back home with our own twist.

Our travels remind us that food is a universal language — one we can all speak, no matter where we’re from or how much we know.

Why “Exquick”?

We chose the name Exquick to reflect the expressive and quick nature of our recipes — joyful meals that don’t take all day, but still nourish the soul. It’s a space for busy people who love food but don’t want to overcomplicate it. It’s for parents, dreamers, travelers, beginners — anyone who wants to bring a little extra joy to the table.

Whether you’re here for a quick dinner idea, a festive drink, or something new to try this weekend — thank you. Your time means so much, and I hope the recipes you find on Exquick.com help you create your own family memories.

From my kitchen to yours,
Sophie Lane
